2019 Porsche Cayenne S

The 2019 Porsche Cayenne S is a lovely SUV in the sea of many choices of SUV’s. Now Porsche SUV’s are different than most SUV’s in the fact that Porsche is still making the vehicle. What I mean by that is there is a fit and finish that is 2nd to none in its price range. You still get sporty feels from the steering wheel and tons of power from the engine bay. So this particular SUV is a cut of above the rest. It certainly was a joy to spend the day with and I certainly see the appeal of having a luxury SUV that is quick and nimble and can carry quite a bit of cargo. Very practical indeed. This particular model was equipped with the high end club package. The club package is the highest interior trim package you can get, has burl wood trim with plush leather everywhere. Was it worth it? I think it was a very nice place to be and had never experienced that.
The run down that is new for 2019 the engine is a 2.9 liter twin turbo charged producing 434 hp and 405 lb-ft. I found the 2.9 liter an odd displacement number. However, it performed very well. This thing has tons of power. It is a pig and weighs in at 4800 lbs so it needs the power. I will say it weighing in that heavy it didn’t feel heavy. Towing capacity is more than capable at 7,700 lbs and I believe that is very underrated. This can tow over 10,000 lbs no problem. Here is a unreal number for you the vehicle will run the quarter mile in 12.8. In comparison in 2003 a Mustang GT bone stock runs the quarter mile in 13.8. This isn’t something people are going to do is go to the drag strip with Porsche Cayenne S but I just wanted to put that in perspective for you. Also, this is just the S people not many SUV’s are bring this power for its near entry level trim. A lot of bang for the buck here. Steering was tight, and shifts were smooth. Now, it was not a PDK. I believe that Porsche is still using the torque converter on these cars because of the strength they have with towing.
Final thoughts, I would like to own one. With that being said in a previous article I did say the Cayenne E-hybrid is the sweet spot and I still believe that. Now this would be a good alternate if some reason I couldn’t get my hands on the Hybrid. Many that know me, I am motorsports driven but honestly these Porsche Suv’s are really nice and powerful and I certainly see the desire for them. Cheers!
