The 2016 Porsche Cayman GT4 isn’t something new however, it is something very special. Dare I say this vehicle has the under pinning’s of a modern classic? Hear me out on this one everyone. I know with the modern day GT cars from the Porsche world it seems everything they make is limited or special in its own way. The 2016 Porsche Cayman GT4 was a one year car though and has held value very very strongly up to this point. Now there is new one coming in 2020 we all know that. More power, more this more that we get it. Now to be fare I am sure the new car will be amazing in its own right but, it will never be the first generation. This one we tested was the birth, the beginning and that will always carry weight. Not to mention it is very amazing vehicle. It has all the correct DNA to be a classic. Naturally aspirated 3.8 liter flat 6, weighs in at under 3k pounds, manual transmission, 385hp and very balanced mid engine chassis. Need I continue to convince you? They made them in a very limited amount. Ok what if I tell you at this moment you can find them for sale in the 80 thousand range, now I know that is a lot of money however, you get a ton for it. Now, when the new GT4 hits the market next year there will be a 12 to 36 month window in my opinion where these 2016’s will take a little bit of a down turn in price and that’s the time to grab one. After that window I believe the market will realize that you can get 90% of the new car for much cheaper price in the older car. You buy in at that you will be golden. I really do believe these will be the ones to have down the road.

The drive was unreal, this one had after market exhaust and headers and hollowed like a banshee. I was drunk on its sound, I wanted to take this one home. They were asking 89k for this example and it had just under 4k miles on it. It was virtually brand new. We spend the entire day with this animal and loved every second of it. The steering was so tight and direct I felt like it was a roller coaster with each point and shoot. I am 911 guy all the way through but, I want one of these bad. I would love to get some example in a special color at some point. As I have said many times before these will be collector items someday. Now, that isn’t the reason I want it. It is such an amazing machine you really have to drive the pants off it to feel the sensation of speed. That’s a good thing. In the low rpm its gutless like a lot of aircooled 911’s which I am used to. I really felt that in this GT4, most modern 911’s have grunt down low. To each their own on this topic most non-enthusiast would probably hate it, I loved it. Like I said it felt like a throw back car with way more top end power.

Final thoughts, I was totally intoxicated by this GT4. The 2016 GT4’s will forever be in the back of head of one the modern great ones. Now, I know they under powered the car a hair so it didn’t step on big bother 911’s shoes. I am ok with that. One thing I may due if I owned would be change the gearing up to the sharkwerks gearing fix. Currently the first three gears are to tall, they just need to be shorted a little bit and sharkwerks handled that a few years ago. You get that you are all set. Is it “da business” you bet it is!!!! “Utah get me two!”
