2019 Porsche Macan S

When you thing you Porsche Macan, you may think boring commuter, family daily driver that isn’t fun. Well, you would be wrong if you thought those things. Specifically in the Porsche Macan S trim we tested. Now we have also driven the base Macan and I thought that was nice but, I really enjoyed the S trim. Why, for the most part the styling and power is very different. The 348 horsepower and 354 lb-ft coming from a V6 turbo charged engine. I can’t believe I am going to say this but with Sports Chrono it does 0 to 60 in 4.9s. That is very impressive for a 4300lb SUV; I mean that is very quick. I can tell you we tested it a ton with many launches controls it was quick, dare I say fast. Towing capacity 4409lbs which is plenty for an open trailer with a race car, or boat, or whatever in that weight category. The one we tested was 72k with all the options it had on it. It was very well equipped.

The drive, it was outstanding! That much better than the base? I say yes, that V6 turbocharged engine makes a world of difference. The steering felt tighter as well, I know it is probably in my head but it did. The power increase after driving both the Base and the S felt significant for me. Styling, there were a few little trim bits that were nicer in the S; also the exterior was also treated to some visual upgrades. Moving to what this really is, it is an all-rounder for the world we live in now days. Let me explain, many of our roads have not been worked on in years so road conditions suck as a whole. This vehicle provides road clearance, soften suspension for those roads. It can haul the family around no problem with luggage on family trips, daily school runs, dinner, you name it and it can do it. Did I mention its fast? Well it is there is no question about it. It handles like a sports car; it feels like a sports car when you are driving it. This Porsche Macan S did not feel like an SUV, I was pleasantly surprised by it. It’s so versatile I dare say if you could only own one modern Porsche this maybe the one. Power is just enough not to killer yourself but enough to get you moving very quickly. 

Final thoughts, I say get one. Would I own one YES, if I could afford one. Now, one of these second hand in the next two to three years will be a money spot to be. If you have the means get the brand new one. You will not be sad if you choose the Porsche Macan S, it really is the Swiss Army knife of the Porsche world. Fast, nimble, carries 4 to 5 passengers, carries your gear and super comfortable. It is definitely the business and we give this Porsche the Pcar Talk seal of approval!
