Ok, we finally got our hands on a brand new 2019 Porsche 719 Boxster, car had 8 miles on it when we got our chance at it. So let’s address this now so we don’t have to later. As many people out there talk noise about Porsche Boxster’s in general I don’t get it. Even outside of the brand there are self-proclaimed car people that say things like “that isn’t a real Porsche”, “that’s a fast Miata”, and the old one “that’s a hair dressers car”. We have all heard these things. I still have a hard time listening to all that non-sense. History lesson time, in the late 90’s Porsche was in deep crap financially. The show needed a hero, a car that was going to save them. Enter the Boxster. It covered a huge price point gap between the expensive Porsche 911. It gave an opportunity to get into the brand at a reason price. Oh did I mention it still is a real Porsche. Offered with a manual transmission, under 3,000 lbs., mid-engine Flat 6 when it can out, and topless like the old vintage race cars. What did it do? Kicked serious ass in the market, it pulled Porsche into the next century with new found capital and excitement in the brand. This car is a Hero, and still many people roll their eyes at the Boxster. It pisses me off honestly! When in society did we get to point where Heroes were treated like a pimple on a models face? It sadness me and makes me mad all at the same time. Then Porsche takes away the flat six and makes it a turbo charged flat 4 and everyone who has an opinion that wasn’t buying Boxster’s anyways bitches and moans about how the flat six is gone. Get over yourselves! The car is great, then Porsche being the legends that they are they bring back the flat coming in 2020 in the Boxster and Cayman for all the ass clowns that were whining about the car to begin with. What auto manufacture does something like that for their so called customer base? It’s a tough answer but I will assist. NONE!!! Only Porsche. Ok, now I have said my piece on how I feel about all the trolls that are out there let’s get to the car review.

By the numbers, we drove the base model. Price point for this one was 59K dollars. It has 300hp, 280 lb-ft, zero to 60 in 4.9 secs, and weighs a little under 3,000 lbs. Oh, still mid-engine by the way, if I said it was anything other than a Boxster you guys would think it was the best thing since air conditioner was invented. I am here to tell you to stop thinking that way. This is a fantastic car! Steering is very direct and talks to the driver very well. The cars are balance is uncanny; I like the bangs and pops on down shift curiosity of the turbo. Now, this was the base model, you can get a Porsche 718 Boxster S with 350 hp which is more than enough. Even the 300 hp we had was plenty. Everyone is chasing power numbers now days, what about power to weight and balance? This Boxster has it all in the right places. Interesting enough, this car has very good storage for what it is. Being mid-engine, you can put things in the frunk, and in the trunk. Cabin was tight and sporty as it should be. The top comes off on in roughly 16 seconds which is very quick. Suspension was nice and sporty, and PDK was on point as usual.

Final thoughts, I really enjoyed my time in this car. It has a great curb appeal and performance to back it up. Is it going to win drag races and melt your face with power? No but, that is also not the intend of this vehicle. It is a canyon craver with an open air experience. It is classy and sport all at the same time. As all of you should know if Porsche is placing their name on it they believe in. They do not produce something just to sell everything they make is very well thought out. So all the people out there that have a negative opinion about these cars stop it, next you see one or drive one say thank you to the car it will appreciate it. Too much hate out there people, time to turn that around be happy! Cheers!
